EAH 3870 Graphics Card

Alrighty I'm a case of I have the money but don't have the brains. The 3870 graphics card by ATI is top of the end (for now). It runs BF2 on high graphics and only 8x Anti-Aliasing can its anti-aliasing go better??? My friends 1950xtx is an older model card and can get to 12x Anti-Aliasing. How can improve my card for best performance???

System spec:
If this helps (im a noob with computer hardware/software)

A Gigabyte S-Series (S3) MotherBoard
- GA-EP35-DS3
- FSB 1600, DDR2 1200
- 45nm processors (optimized)

The Core is an Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600
Intel Core i7 2600 @ 3.4GHZ

Lol not really its mainly an ego thing... I wanna get better than my friend to annoy him... (He likes to be the best when it comes to computers)...

wait...

do you have the 1950xtx?

if so, it's not worth switching to a 3870, as the xtx has still more than enough umpf to last you for some time.

He's got a 3870, but his friend, with the x1950xtx(i think) has his AA up to 12x.

Oh wait he says he gets 12x AA on other games not BF2. BF2 has a max AA of 8x times it will be interesting to see how my 3870 goes on crysis and COD4

Well with cod4 you dont really need much to run it on max settings. In my opinion it is the most optimized game thats out right now when it comes to performance. I only have 512 of ram at the moment and an AGP card and it runs perfect on all high settings, yet if i try gears of war, or BF2 on all high settings my system laughs in my face.

not really
unless in games like Crysis

the 1900xtx wasn't much different from the 1950, other than it didn't had GDDR4-memory.

i'ld say wait till games like FarCry 2, Operation Flashpoint 2 and GTA4 come out
and see how it performs in those games.
if it's struggling, then upgrade, if not, keep it

what about gears of war?will my x1900xtx handle that game ok?cause I started to save up my money for a card because I thought my x1900xtx wouldnt be able to handle it on mixed settings(med-high AAx2)

just check out the game and see from there

besides, you won't need a new gpu till Operation Flashpoint 2 and FarCry 2 come out (along with Race Driver Grid)

well seeing that the 3870 wont be much of an upgrade for me smith sometime next month i'll be buying a new cpu so far I have like 100 usd saved up.
